Dani Alves: I'm staying, Luis Enrique says he counts on me

By

Barcelona right-back Dani Alves will not leave the Spanish giants and is determined to fight for a regular place in Luis Enrique's side.

The Spaniards are heavily linked with a move for Douglas Pereira dos Santos but Alves believes he can still be an asset for the Blaugrana.

"I spoke with Luis Enrique after returning from holidays and he told me he counts on me," the Brazilian said.

"I never imagined myself away from Barcelona, I never wanted to leave.

"I earned the right to be always taken in consideration after winning matches and titles."

The player's contract with the Spanish giants ends in the summer of 2016 with the 31-year-old aware that a vital season lies ahead.

"My contract runs out in 2016 so I have an agreement for this season and the one after," added Alves.

"Whatever happens, this season is pivotal for me.

"Douglas [Pereira dos Santos]? I hope Barcelona sign him, he's a great player."
