Roma boss responds to reports that defender will leave to join Chelsea or Manchester United

Roma coach Luciano Spalletti says defender Kostas Manolas will not leave the club this summer.

The Greece international has been linked with a move to Manchester United or Chelsea in recent weeks.

His agent confirmed that three Premier League clubs have made contact to understand if the 25-year-old is for sale.

But Spalletti wants him to be part of Roma as he looks to add one more defender to his squad.

"We are looking for a centre-back," Spalletti said.

"We are not only going to sign Nacho, provided that he really arrives.

"I want Manolas to stay at AS Roma, I've told him already. He is physically and mentally very strong. He arrives everywhere on the pitch, sometimes he exaggerates with sliding tackles."
