Atletico Madrid's Joao Miranda: I'm here to stay

By

Atletico Madrid Joao Miranda de Souza Filho has no intention of leaving the reigning Spanish champions as he denied rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United.

The player looked set to leave the Spanish Liga last month after revealing to Radio ESPN that a number of offers were made to his agent and negotiations were under way.

But the 29-year-old is now ready to stay and to help his side in fighting for the Liga and the Champions League.

"I am staying at Atletico Madrid," the player is quoted as saying by as.com

"I like the city, our fans are great. We just now have to focus on winning the Liga, it will definitely be a good season for us.

"Many players left this season and we're now a team in transition but we will improve in the coming weeks."
