Maurizio Sarri expects tough season opener away at Sassuolo

By

New Napoli coach Maurizio Sarri says Sassuolo is the worst possible opponent his side could have faced in their first game of the Serie A.

The Partenopei kick-off their campaign on Sunday when they take on Eusebio Di Francesco's men at the Mapei Stadium.

They will be expected to qualify for next season's Champions League after disappointingly missing out last season.

"We are where you expect a work-in-progress team to be at this stage of the season," Sarri told reporters on Saturday.

"Our fitness level is not the best but it's something every team is suffering from.

"We are not there just yet in respect to our technical aspect but we have quality players who can help us.

"[Tomorrow away at Sassuolo] I want Napoli to boss the game.

"They are the worst possible opposition at this stage of the campaign because they have been playing together for the last three years, with the same coach.

"So tomorrow's game is the typical game where we could struggle because of the opposition."
