Rafa Benitez delighted despite late Internazionale draw

By

Napoli coach Rafa Benitez was full of praise for his players despite allowing Internazionale to salvage a draw at the Stadio San Paolo.

With Roma only managing a draw in the afternoon, the Partenopei had a golden opportunity to move to just two points from the Giallorossi.

But Mauro Icardi's late penalty means that they have to keep an eye on Lazio who can move up to third if they beat Fiorentina on Monday.

"We played a very good game, it was a beautiful performance," Benitez said.

"I saw the right behaviour from the lads, the behaviour I want in our next games. It's a shame we didn't win but Internazionale have quality players in their squad who can make the difference at any time.

"But again, I liked the mental approach of the squad, we gave everything until the very end.

"We wanted to win but it's fair to say Internazionale played a very good game, they came here with nothing to lose.

"We had chances to score more goals and put the game to bed and we could have defended better but again, they [Internazionale] are quality and they took advantage of their quality in the end."
