Rafa Benitez was visibly delighted after starting the new year with an impressive away win against Cesena.
The Partenopei moved up to third in the table - level on points with Lazio - with Jose Callejon, Marek Hamsik and Gonzalo Higuain twice getting the goals for Benitez's side.
"We did what we had to do," Benitez told Sky Sport Italy.
"We controlled the game and scored when we had the opportunity to do so. I am very happy with the lads' performance, they showed they are great professionals.
"[Marek] Hamsik and [Gonzalo] Higuain can be very dangerous when they click together, they are pivotal for us."
Asked if more signings will be made in January, the Spaniard added: "We are always scouting the market.
"For now we made sure to replace the injured players, [Lorenzo] Insigne and [Faouzi] Ghoulam.
"[Manolo] Gabbiadini is left-footed, we lack these type of players in the squad. He can play in many roles so he will be useful.
"As always, one cannot predict what will happen during the transfer window."
And next week Napoli will host Juventus in what will be the repeat of the Italian Super Cup won by the Partenopei.
"It will be a completely different game than the one in Doha," Benitez said.
"But if we go out there with confidence and with the right attitude then I'm sure it will be a great match.
"We also have to be more careful in the defensive department."
