Rafa Benitez happy with squad behaviour after Sparta draw

By

Napoli coach Rafa Benitez was delighted after the goalless draw against Sparta Prague saw his side reach the knockout stage of the Europa League.

With Young Boys and Sparta clashing on the last day of the group, the Partenopei know that they are certain of making it through the Last 16.

And they will be group winners if they beat Slovan Bratislava on December 11.

"It's important to qualify with one game to spare," Benitez said after the draw.

"The squad did well, especially in the second half where we had chances to score. I liked the attitude and also the performance of [goalkeeper] Rafael.

"Our objective was to control their initial pressure and to win the game in the second half. We went close but we won't complain, we did well to reach the knockout stage.

"The pitch was heavy and it was not easy for us to keep hold of the ball. We also had formation issues with De Guzman out injured. But we showed character and the clean sheet is an important number in the game."
