Napoli coach Rafa Benitez was visibly pleased after the big win against Verona on Sunday night.
The Partenopei bounced back from an early Emil Hallfreosson goal to ease to a 6-2 win against Verona with striker Gonzalo Higuain hitting a hat-trick for the hosts, his first goals of the season.
"This win sends a strong signal," Benitez said after the game.
"Tonight I liked almost everything, I say almost because we can and we have to improve. But I think that today the squad showed what it is capable of.
"We did bounce back in an important way after conceding so early in the game. We enjoyed plenty of possession and created a lot of chances."
Midfielder Marek Hamsik and striker Gonzalez Higuain were both on target for the Partenopei, much to the delight of the Spaniard.
"They are two champions," Benitez said.
"Marek showed that he can do well and score goals in any role. Gonzalo could have easily score four tonight.
"All I'm saying is that we have quality players and a strong team and that we're stronger than last season.
"We just have to continue like this because tonight we had positive indications in respect to the mental strength of the squad."
