Rafa Benitez: We were punished for a defensive mistake

By

Napoli coach Rafa Benitez was not a happy man after his side's 2-0 defeat against Young Boys.

Despite creating a number of goal opportunities, the Partenopei failed to score and were punished by the hosts in the second half.

The defeat means Napoli fall to third in Group I and will host Young Boys at the Stadio San Paolo on November 6.

"We controlled the game and having failed to score we were then punished for a defensive mistake," Benitez said after the game.

"Yes, defensively we lacked intensity because offensively we created chances and could have score in a number of occasions.

"We could have done better in the first half on the counter but we lacked something that prevented us to trouble their goalkeeper.

"Young Boys closed all gaps at the back and getting through was not easy. And when we managed to do it we failed to score.

"I am bitterly disappointed but I have to analyse the positives out of the game. We should be more hungry for the win, we're lacking in this department and we have to rectify it."
