Roma coach Rudi Garcia was satisfied with the performance of his players after the 2-0 defeat away at Bayern Munich.
The Giallorossi were heavily beaten by Pep Guardiola's side when the two teams faced at the Olimpico Stadium and Garcia was happy to see last night's scoreline to be less emphatic than the 7-1 defeat in Rome.
"Yes, definitely, I saw the response I wanted to see," Garcia said after the defeat.
"We showed character and could have done better in respect to the scoreline. But we knew we were playing against a very strong team.
"We created a number of interesting opportunities but we were facing the best goalkeeper in the world. But I'm happy with the lads, they played the game I wanted they to play."
Asked why De Sanctis, Gervinho, Pjanic and Totti all started on the bench, Garcia explained: "I wanted to start with a team that allows me to change formation on the fly.
"Gervinho didn't start because he played all our last five games and we will need him on Sunday [against Torino].
"For Morgan [De Sanctis], both him and I believe he's not ready to play a game every three days following this summer's surgery.
"He [Kevin Strootman] will soon be back in the squad.
"He needs time to regain his fitness level, he's training hard but he needs confidence. He's as important as all other injured players are.
"Tonight I had to make two forced changes: Florenzi and Holebas and I hope they will be ready for Sunday."
