Roma coach Rudi Garcia says his side's away win at Empoli was largely down to a good collective display.
The Giallorossi took full advantage of Empoli goalkeeper Luigi Sepe's mistake as they join Juventus at the top of the Serie A table.
"I knew Empoli are quality, how organised they are, how dangerous they can be from set pieces," Garcia said after the match.
"We had to take advantage of the wings to score, we had to be careful when defending set pieces and we did it.
"I was hoping we could score a second goal and Maicon had a chance but we controlled the game well.
"If Empoli keep playing like this they will avoid relegation by a large margin."
Defender Kostas Manolas produced yet another terrific display in Roma's defensive department, much to the delight of his manager.
"[Leandro] Castan was replaced as a precaution," added the manager.
"Kostas [Manolas] has settled in brilliantly, he's fast, aggressive, a player who understood how I want him to defend."
