Rudi Garcia: Maicon made a mistake but it's time to move on

By

Roma coach Rudi Garcia confirmed Maicon is ready to feature against Empoli on Saturday.

The 33-year-old did not feature in Roma's first game of the season against Fiorentina but is now ready to make his Serie A debut against Maurizio Sarri's side.

"I didn't include him in the Fiorentina squad because he didn't train with the rest of the group and I preferred not to take any risks," Garcia said during his press conference.

"We then allowed him to join the national team to play a friendly match and kick-off his campaign.

"He trained this whole week with us and he's now ready to play."

The Brazilian was dropped from the national squad earlier this week due to a serious breach of discipline but Garcia is ready to move on.

"He made a mistake in returning late, period," added the manager.

"But it's not a Roma problem since it happened when he was on duty with the national team.

"[Walter] Sabatini spoke about what happened yesterday, it's now time to move forward."
