"They are close to making him their first summer signing" - Manchester United close to signing World Cup star

By

Manchester United are close to making Brazil international Fred their first summer signing, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The 25-year-old is expected to move to Old Trafford for £43.7million.

Talks between the two clubs are in advanced stage and an agreement could be reached before the end of the month.

With Michael Carrick retiring to become coach and Marouane Fellaini set to leave the club, the Red Devils are in desperate need of new midfielders and Fred can add options in that department to manager Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese is also keeping a close eye on Nice's Jean Michael Seri.

Seri, 26, is also a target for Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.
