"Jose Mourinho is desperate to sign him" - Manchester United preparing offer to sign Real Madrid star

By

Jose Mourinho is desperate to bring Real Madrid star Raphael Varane to Manchester United, according to Express Sport.

It is not the first time the Frenchman has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The player himself confirmed last summer that there were contacts with the Red Devils boss about the possibility of making a move to the English Premier League.

The France international didn't have the best of campaigns and Real Madrid could decide to sell him if an offer in the region of £70million is made.

Three years ago, Varane was full of praise for Mourinho for helping him understand that he had to work harder in training.

"During my second year at Madrid, Jose Mourinho gave me a kick up the backside," he said.

"I wasn't doing well, I wasn't managing to do what he wanted me to out on the pitch.

"So he chided me, saying: 'Why don't you run in training?' My first reaction was to mutter, 'Oh come on…' But I knew he was right, I had more to give."
