Manchester United face Barcelona competition for Dutch left-back

By

Manchester United and Barcelona will both make offers for Holland international Daley Blind, according to reports in England.

The 24-year-old impressed during this summer's World Cup Finals in Brazil and is wanted by Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal to strengthen his side's defensive department.

Ajax know they cannot refuse an important offer for the player although coach Frank De Boer believes the player might stay put at least for one more season.

"We all know that if there is a certain amount on the table we cannot refuse. Then we'll wish him all the best," the Dutchman said.

"But I have not heard anything about it, so I am assuming that he still stays for a year."

Red Devils fans were bitterly disappointed after last week's home defeat against Swansea City but the potential signings of Marcos Rojo, Angel Di Maria and Daley Blind would definitely ease the pain.
