Agent confirms Arsenal and Liverpool target is wanted by a number of clubs

By

Napoli midfielder Dries Mertens is wanted by a number of European clubs but wants to stay at Napoli, Massimiliano Capparoni has revealed.

Capparoni, one of the player's agents, confirmed that Internazionale made a move to sign the player but also declared that Napoli will only listen to important offers for the Belgium international.

"Mertens is an important player," Capparoni told Radio CRC.

"He is wanted by a number of clubs but Napoli is in talks with no club at the moment.

"I can't see any reason why he shouldn't stay at Napoli. Then granted, the transfer market is always evolving but I know that the player doesn't want to leave the club.

"Napoli could consider [selling the player] if an important offer is received.

"Internazionale have shown interest but there are no negotiations going on at the moment."
