Chelsea or Manchester United could still beat Milan to the signing of Axel Witsel

By

Reports that Zenit Saint Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel has joined Milan have been rubbished by the Russian club.

Sudinfo.be reported on Wednesday evening that the Chelsea and Manchester United target has reached an agreement with the Rossoneri.

But according to the player's club, no official approach was made by the Italians to sign the 26-year-old.

"We didn't receive any offer," a club spokesman said.

"Witsel is a very expensive player and a very important offer has to be made if a club wants to sign him.

"Whatever the media wrote about a possible agreement with another club is not true."
