Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi was happy to see his team battle through to the next round of the Italian Cup on Tuesday night.
Despite not performing at their very best, the Rossoneri reached the quarter finals of the competition with a hard-fought win over Eusebio di Francesco's team with Giampaolo Pazzini and Nigel de Jong on target for Milan.
"A draw would have been hard to accept," Inzaghi told reporters during his press conference.
"We deserved to win and it's not easy to bounce back after such a penalty decision against you.
"But our reaction was a positive one and managed to win the game. We are happy to move on to the next round [of the Italian Cup] but our focus will now be shifted to the game against Atalanta.
"In recent games we failed to be at our best in the second half, such as games against Sassuolo and Torino [in the Serie A].
"But big teams should be able to win even when they don't play well.
"When we perform we win easily but when we don't we struggle to get the result."
Asked about the performance of striker Giampaolo Pazzini, the 41-year-old added: "I know how quality he is.
"We have many players in the offensive department like [Jeremy] Menez but I know what Pazzini can give.
"But there is abundance up front with Cerci, Menez, El Shaarawy, Pazzini, Bonaventura and Niang and I'm happy for this."
