Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi blames poor defending for his side's away defeat to Genoa.
The hosts showed an exceptional fitness level as they deserved the win with Riccardo Montolivo making his long-awaited comeback for the Rossoneri.
Left-back Luca Antonelli grabbed the only goal of the game as the Milan defence were again caught napping from a set-piece, much to the disappointment of their manager.
"We created a number of importance chances and had we taken the lead it would have been a complete different game," Inzaghi said.
"Genoa were enjoying a good game but they rarely trouble us [before they scored]. Then we made yet another mistake [from a corner].
"I knew that to get back to top level football we were going to have up and downs. Maybe today we could have been more clinical in front of goal but this is football.
"We are happy about the comeback of such an important player [Riccardo Montolivo] after months on the sidelines. I decided to start with him to assess his fitness level and I believe he enjoyed a very good game."
