Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi says his team had enough chances to win the game on Sunday evening.
The Rossoneri took the lead in the 23rd minute with a well-taken volley from Jeremy Menez but Joel Obi's low shot restored parity for the visitors on the 61st minute.
And according to Inzaghi, there was plenty of action in the last part of the game to find the winning goal.
"It was an even contest, we knew it was going to be difficult after they changed their coach," Inzaghi said.
"I'm sorry for the fans, it would have been nice to end with a win. [Goalkeeper] Diego Lopez had to make a save on Icardi but had very little more to do.
"We conceded after a number of ricochets, we had four corners in the dying minutes and two chances with [Stefan] El Shaarawy and [Andrea] Poli.
"It's a shame, but we have to look forward, the defensive line did well and the rest of the team helped them well.
"I was about to introduce Pazzini but then El Shaarawy missed the chance and had I replaced him he would have felt upset even more.
"But Pazzini has to be serene, he could feature on Sunday.
"[Riccardo] Montolivo has been out for six months, it's my job to understand when he's ready to make his comeback."
