Filippo Inzaghi confirms Alex will miss derby, Montolivo on the bench

By

Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi says Riccardo Montolivo will be on the bench for the game against International.

The Italy international underwent surgery on his broken leg in June but will be a welcome return for the Rossoneri ahead of Sunday night's derby against Internazionale.

"Tomorrow's game is an important one, but just like all other games we played so far," Inzaghi said on Saturday afternoon.

"The players don't need to be motivated any further, with this spirit we can achieve nice wins and success.

"We have to continue from where we left against Sampdoria. We played well, we have to continue like that, making sure to improve in the areas we lacked at.

"[Keisuke] Honda is fit. [In defence] Zaccardo, Albertazzi, Armero and Zapata are all available, I'll just have to understand who should start.

"He [Alex] suffered an injury, we thought it was nothing but he is out with a muscular problem.

"Montolivo will start on the bench, I had doubts over the possibility of starting him but we prefer to be cautious with him."
