Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi was delighted to see his side battle past Parma on Sunday.
The Rossoneri edged a nine-goal thriller with Parma's Felipe and Milan's Daniele Bonera both sent off in the second half of the game.
The win means Milan join Juventus and Roma at the top of the table with the Rossoneri scheduled to host the Bianconeri at the San Siro stadium next week.
"It would have been a great shame to lose because we played a great match," Inzaghi told Mediaset Premium.
"This team has fantastic spirit but we still have to improve.
"Little has been said about Menez [when he joined], let's hope in more free transfers like him and Alex.
"He's doing well in this role but I hope to have Torres available soon.
"Honda was excellent today, he attacked the space. He scored at the TIM Cup, against Lazio and again today.
"The two centre-backs who came on as substitutes, Rami and Zapata, they went out there with a fantastic spirit, just like Niang.
"Bonaventura played with the right spirit, he's a true professional, a serious lad, we kept saying he can play in a 4-3-3 formation but..."
