Milan midfielder Marco van Ginkel says fellow Dutchman Nigel de Jong played an important role in his decision to join the Rossoneri.
The 21-year-old joined Milan during the summer transfer window on a season-long deal and is determined to secure a regular place in Filippo Inzaghi's team.
"I'm happy at Milanello, I'm training well and underwent a number of tests at the Milan Lab," van Ginkel told Milan Channel.
"I'm really happy, this is a great club with very nice people and great players."
The youngster revealed he was in touch with Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong and on-loan Chelsea striker Fernando Torres before signing the contract.
"[Nigel] de Jong called me often, and told me about Milan's desire to add me to their midfield," added the midfielder.
"Fernando [Torres] did the same, he kept saying that I should accept the offer.
"It was not easy to play regularly at Chelsea after the injury [sidelined for six months last season after undergoing knee surgery] and Nigel convinced me to come here to enjoy regular football."
