Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri says his side's performance in the first half against Chievo was "mediocre".
With Roma facing a tricky away game against Fiorentina later on today, the Bianconeri were under pressure to deliver and take all three points but struggled to get past a determined Chievo side before eventually winning by 2-0.
"Chievo should be given credit [for the first half score]," Allegri told Sky Sport Italy.
"We wanted to produce the same type of performance of the last few weeks but they pressured us high up. We didn't play very well but we created chances when on the offensive side, deserving to win.
"The first half was mediocre, again, because of a good Chievo side, although we did create chances. Then they slowed down a little and we improved after [Paul] Pogba's goal.
"Their only chance of the game, [Ezequiel] Schelotto's, came because we were caught napping."
Midfielder Paul Pogba again produced a moment of sublime skill as he scored the first goal of the game as rumours continue to spread about the future of the youngster.
But Allegri is not interested.
"I am the coach, it's up to the club to decide [the future of the player]," he said.
"But still, it's not a problem to face now. Today he scored a brilliant goal and controlled the ball magnificently when we scored the second.
"There are categories in life, such skills are impossible for many.
"He's a very intelligent player and his performances clearly show this. He wants to improve, one can easily see it during training and on the pitch."
