Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri was delighted after his side went back to the top of the Italian Serie A.
The Bianconeri took full advantage of Roma's second defeat of the season against Napoli with Andrea Pirlo and Alvaro Morata both producing excellent goals in the second half.
"At Genoa we showed character, we ran for 95 minutes, with great intensity, maybe more than tonight," Allegri said after the win.
"Tonight we reacted positively after a number of negative results; negative results not negative performances.
"Empoli played a great first half but the lads were humble enough to understand when we were under pressure, they didn't make mistakes and we were never in danger of conceding.
"In the second half we improved our game and they struggled a little bit.
"We won an important game because we're back on winning terms and back alone at the top of the league.
"[Alvaro] Morata is quality, there's no need for me to say that.
"He was never a regular at Real Madrid because he was very young but he's a player who needs to play, he needs to improve but I would say that he possesses amazing individual skills, just look at tonight's goal.
"For him it was a rare opportunity to play alongside [Sebastian] Giovinco but I believe that games are needed for players to get used to each other.
"So it's normal to struggle offensively when new players play together, regardless if it's Coman, Giovinco, Morata, Llorente or Tevez."
