New Internazionale midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri says coach Roberto Mancini was one of the reasons why he opted for the Italian club.
Linked with Juventus, Liverpool and Arsenal, the 23-year-old joined Internazionale for an undisclosed fee and was on the bench during Sunday's win at home against Genoa.
And he is expected to again start on the bench, on Saturday, against Empoli at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.
"I had other offers but my wish was always clear," Shaqiri told reporters on Wednesday.
"The coach [Roberto Mancini] showed me the project and his words convinced me to join. I now want to help the club, to help them get back to the top.
"I also think that when a player opts for a club he also considers the work the club made to sign him. This also made me choose Internazionale.
"From the papers one could think that I was close to many other teams. Yes, Juventus was an option but I only wanted Internazionale, I can't wait to play and I believe the third place is a possibility.
"At Bayern Munich I was given the opportunity to play alongside a number of great champions. I will do my best to use what I learned there to be useful here, hoping to win trophies.
"At Bayern I showed my versatility, it's now up to [Roberto] Mancini to understand the best role for me. I personally like to play as an attacking midfielder but any position would be fine."
