Internazionale coach Walter Mazzarri was unhappy with the first goal in the 1-1 draw away at Palermo.
A Nemanja Vidic mistake allowed the hosts to take an early lead with Mazzarri saying it was complicated to overcome such an early setback.
"We basically gave the first goal away," Mazzarri told reporters after the game.
"When you concede so early it becomes complicated to recover, especially against such a good Palermo team. It would have been difficult for any team.
"But I must say we did well to recover, we also tried to win and in a way we did score another goal.
"Our mentality is to go out there to win, we went very close with Osvaldo at the very end.
"He [Vidic] is such a nice boy that he immediately apologised for the mistake. It happens to goalkeepers as well, I remember a giant of the game like [Dino] Zoff, who also made terrible mistakes.
"But luckily we recovered although it was indeed tough to overcome what happened ."
Midfielder Hernanes looked out of sorts after coming on as a substitute but the manager rejected claims that he is yet to physically recover after the World Cup Finals in Brazil.
"He always did well since he came back [from the World Cup]," added the manager.
"I don't think he can always perform at the same level. Also today it was very hot, conditions were different than those in Kiev and in the end I don't think he was that bad.
"He didn't look any worse than the other players."
