Fredy Guarin: I played because I deserved to play last season

By

Internazionale midfielder Fredy Guarin is ready to feature for the Nerazzurri after a turbulent summer in which he was close to leaving the club.

Manager Walter Mazzarri always believed in the Colombian last season, omitting him from the side only in the last part of the campaign.

And the 28-year-old believes he was utilised in midfield because he deserved it.

"Yes, [I played a lot] because I deserved to play," Guarin told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"It's not because he's a friend or his teams are formulated purely from his personal preferences.

"I played because I worked hard in midfield.

"Mazzarri takes nothing for granted, he asks you to play if you work hard in training, else there's no way you play."
