Southampton head coach Ronald Koeman says he is hopeful of keeping Toby Alderweireld at the club despite pressure from Atletico Madrid.
The defender spent last season on loan at the St Mary's Stadium but Atletico Madrid are reported to be ready to pay Southampton £1.5m to have the player at the club next season.
He is also a target for Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur but Koeman confirmed that the player's desire is to stay at Southampton.
"The player would like to stay," Koeman is quoted as saying by Express Sport.
"We would like to keep the player but it is a little difficult at the moment with Atletico Madrid.
"I am hopeful that he will stay at Southampton."
