Mauricio Pochettino proud after draw, says Spurs deserved to reach final

By

Manager Mauricio Pochettino was delighted after Tottenham Hotspur fought hard to reach the Capital One Cup final.

Spurs had to fend off a strong fightback from Sheffield United on Wednesday night before booking their place at Wembley where they will face Jose Mourinho's Chelsea.

And the Argentine says his team has an opportunity to create something special this season.

"I have to congratulate our players and our supporters, they were brilliant tonight," Pochettino said.

"I'm happy for them and happy for everyone who loves Tottenham.

"It was a difficult game but I think if you analyse the two matches we deserved to go through to the final.

"Football can change quickly. When you dominate the game, create chances and don't give the opposition the opportunity to create chances, then you need to kill the game.

"After that, everything changed and we gave the opponent the opportunity to come back into the game.

"At that point it's not tactical, not physical, but emotional. Everything is possible at that time.

"I'm very proud. I know it's important to get to the final and I'm happy for everyone.

"We want to develop our style and create something special and this is our opportunity."
