Mauricio Pochettino: We were in control but we made a mistake

By

Manager Mauricio Pochettino was bitterly disappointed after Tottenham Hotspur's unbeaten run came to an abrupt end against Crystal Palace.

Spurs lost a very good opportunity to move to third in the table on level points with Manchester United as the Argentine believes the defeat was the result of mistakes made by his players.

"The game wasn't good, it was under control but after the penalty that was the key moment and changed the energy of the game," Pochettino said.

"We were in control but we made a mistake. Maybe it wasn't a penalty but after that it was difficult to handle the game.

"In the end, perhaps we didn't deserve to lose but that's football.

"I'm disappointed and we need to analyse, we need to improve and we need to avoid some mistakes that we made against Palace."
