Jose Mourinho wants Manchester United to offer a £500,000-a-week contract to sign player wanted by Chelsea

By

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho hasn’t given up hope of signing Gareth Bale this summer and wants the Red Devils to fund a £500,000-a-week deal for the Welshman.

Metro has claimed on Thursday that the Portuguese is desperate to sign one of Europe's best wingers.

The Red Devils have already spent more than £100million this summer but one more player is expected to sign before the end of the summer transfer window.

Bale is also a target for Chelsea.

Speaking after Tuesday's final in Macedonia, Mourinho said: "I think now everybody knows he is going to stay.

"Clearly the club want him, the manager wants him and he wants the club.

"So for me, game over, even before it started."
