Manchester United executive vice-chairman has "stepped up his pursuit" of £70million-rated star

By

Manchester United negotiator Ed Woodward stepped up his pursuit of Italy ace Marco Verratti, Mirror has claimed on Sunday.

The 24-year-old was a target for Barcelona but the Spanish giants have cooled their interest.

Paris Saint-Germain rate the Italian £70million and would only sit down to negotiate if the Red Devils offer Anthony Martial as part of the deal.

The 24-year-old is one of the many midfielders identified by boss Jose Mourinho to strengthen his squad.

He is also keeping a close eye on Chelsea's Nemanja Matic and Internazionale's Ivan Perisic.

Verratti is eager to embark on a new experience in the Spanish Liga or Premier League but it will be very difficult for United to bring him to Old Trafford.
