"Man Utd have opened talks" - Red Devils offer £175,000-a-week deal to midfielder wanted by Barcelona

By

Manchester United are set to offer a new £175,000-a-week deal to midfielder Ander Herrera.

The Red Devils are aware of the fact that Barcelona want to sign the Spain international.

The player and the club have already met to negotiate a new contract and talks have been positive.

Herrera enjoyed a phenomenal campaign at Old Trafford last season as he was one of the best players in Jose Mourinho's squad.

And last month, club ambassador at Manchester United Ji-sung Park was full of praise for the midfielder.

"I think he’s worked hard on the pitch," Park told ManUtd.com.

"He’s very clever. He is a great midfielder and, actually, I played against him when he played for Athletic Club.

"It’s really good for the team to have that kind of player and he is really appreciated by the fans for what he has done for the club.

"He is still improving, actually, and can be even stronger than last season."
