Legend Ryan Giggs delivers message to Manchester United fans about Wayne Rooney's future

By

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs says striker Wayne Rooney could stay at the club.

The Englishman has been heavily linked with an Old Trafford exit after he lost his regular place in the squad.

But the Welshman is convinced that the 31-year-old is still a quality player who can be an asset in Jose Mourinho's setup.

"Wayne is a proven goalscorer, give him a chance and Wayne will score," Giggs told Sky Sports News HQ.

"It is whether he can put up with not being first choice or whether he can develop his game which I had to around the same age, not being certain to play every game, but playing 25-30 games and contributing.

"If Wayne can do that then I don't see why he can't still be at the club."
