"We haven't spoken to him" - Manchester United given huge boost in their attempt to keep key player

By

Real Madrid are not interested in signing Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, president Florentino Perez has claimed.

The Spain international has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford.

But the 70-year-old says there was interest two years ago but Keylor Navas is now Zinedine Zidane's regular and will continue to be his number one next season as well.

"We haven't spoken to De Gea," Perez told the Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

"Two years ago we had an issue and then the appropriate circumstances didn't arise.

"The players are very fond of Keylor and also the coach. I like Keylor Navas.

"Why he wanted Gea before? Because Zinedine Zidane did not know him [Navas]."
