"You are going to be important here" - Jose Mourinho eager to make striker his second summer signing

By

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has made personal contact to convince striker Alvaro Morata to move to Old Trafford.

Marca claims that the Portuguese has told the striker that he will be one of his main players if he decides to join the Red Devils.

In a recent interview, the 24-year-old made it clear that he wants to feature in next year's World Cup Finals in Russia but is ready to wait for his chance at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"I want to play and be important for my team, as next year there's a World Cup," he told Onda Cero.

"I'd be crazy if I didn't want to stay, if I thought about playing more, I'd dedicate myself to chess or tennis.

"Will I go back to Italy? It would be very difficult so certainly not.

"I want to stay at Real Madrid."
