Confirmed: Manchester United's third summer signing confirmed by club

By

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has confirmed that Henrikh Mkhitaryan will play for Manchester United next season.

The 27-year-old is yet to have a medical at Old Trafford but is expected to become Jose Mourinho's third summer signing.

Defender Eric Bailly and striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic have already been announced by the club.

The Armenian was named Bundesliga Players' Player of the Season in 2015-16 after scoring 18 goals in all competitions

"This transfer was made on the basis of starting a new challenge," Watzke said.

"Manchester United made a tremendous offer, which matched the player's value. Had we rejected it, the player could have moved for free in 2017."
