Louis van Gaal: Injury update on Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia, Marcos Rojo and Bastian Schweinsteiger

By

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal says defender Phil Jones has returned to full training as he edges closer to a return.

The 23-year-old is expected to miss Sunday's away game at Chelsea with midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger also ruled out.

Long-term absentee Luke Shaw was picked by the Dutchman in his Europa League squad but would only be able to play in final if the Red Devils reach the end of the competition.

"There is some light at the end of the tunnel, I think," van Gaal revealed.

"[Phil] Jones is coming back. He has trained today [Friday] with the first team so that's good.

"[Marcos] Rojo is doing well. It's not that he can train with us but, still, he is doing well.

"[Luke] Shaw is doing well and [Antonio] Valencia is doing well so it's not bad.

"[Bastian] Schweinsteiger is still out, yes."
