Manchester United have released a statement on the club's official website to give the latest update on Luke Shaw.
The Englishman suffered a double fracture of his right leg during last Tuesday's 2-1 defeat at PSV Eindhoven.
He is expected to be on the sidelines for months.
"Luke Shaw underwent surgery on his injury on Tuesday night and will remain in hospital in Eindhoven to continue his early recovery," the statement reads.
"Manchester United are grateful for the excellent care he is receiving and would like to thank everyone who has sent messages of support.
"A further update will be provided in due course."
