Javier Mascherano all but confirms Pedro will leave Barcelona for Manchester United

By

Defender Javier Mascherano has all but confirmed that striker Pedro will leave Barcelona in the summer with the winger rumoured to be moving to Manchester United.

The 28-year-old is expected to again struggle to secure a regular place in Luis Enrique's line-up.

His £106m contract clause was lowered to a reported €22m at the start of last month, a fee that the Red Devils are ready to meet to secure the services of the player.

"Well, I wish he would stay but this is just a personal opinion," Mascherano told reporters.

"But if he leaves, Barcelona have lost a player that has been very important in recent years, a good professional, a good kid, a professional who is always keen on giving his best, both on the pitch and outside.

"Obviously when someone like him leaves the club it is something we feel because it is not easy to find players with his humility and eagerness to improve after having won so much.

"I have a good relationship with him and I wish he would stay."
