President confirms Manchester United made no offer for goalkeeper

By

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo says Manchester United made no offer to sign goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

Reports claimed last week that the 22-year-old is one of the many goalkeepers tipped to take over from David De Gea in the Manchester United goal.

But Cerezo says the youngster is an important element in the squad and will not be sold in the summer.

"The departure of certain players depends on the coach," Cerezo told reporters.

"There is still some time before the season starts and it's his decision. I'm not one to request players [to leave].

"There hasn't been a single offer from any team for Oblak.

"He has many years remaining on his contract. He's young and everyone is right to want him because he's an excellent goalkeeper."
