Real Madrid pull out of race as £35m defender inches closer to Manchester United move

By

Nicolas Otamendi's agent has confirmed that his client is not shortlisted to take over from Sergio Ramos at Real Madrid.

The Argentinean is one of the main targets for Manchester United with the Red Devils ready to offer £35m to secure his services.

"Before Sergio Ramos leaves Real Madrid - if he does leave - Otamendi will be already playing for another club," Eugenio Lopez is quoted as saying by Express Sport.

At the end of last month, the 27-year-old confirmed that he will leave Valencia in the summer.

"I've spoken with my agent and Valencia know what I want," Otamendi is quoted as saying by the Telegraph.

"Therefore, every word my agent has said has obviously been with my permission and he has full permission to talk to who he wants.

"I spoke to the president and my agent and they know my desires very well, but for now I've told my agent that my head is [with Argentina] and left him to it.

"Right now, I'm enjoying each day alongside Di Maria, Rojo, Tevez, Messi and the other players who are leaders here."
