Manchester United set to make first offer for "perfect for Arsenal" defender

By

Manchester United have renewed their efforts to sign Lazio defender Stefan de Vrij and are ready to offer £18.3m to secure the services of the Dutchman.

The 23-year-old enjoyed a very positive campaign at Lazio last season with Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal ready to make a move to bring him at Old Trafford.

What would be a perfect signing for Arsenal according to Voetbal International, the defender would relish the prospect of playing in England next season.

Speaking to De Telegraaf at the start of the month, he said: "I think I have made a great step forward in Serie A in my debut season.

"People say I've changed my style of play since moving to Italy, which is almost true.

"I analyse my performance in every game, as I can correct mistakes in the next games.

"Dirk Kuyt, Robin Van Persie, Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben all told me that you can learn many things while playing abroad.

"I am feeling the truth on those words at this moment."
