Top rated midfielder to snub Manchester United and Arsenal move to stay in Germany

By

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is close to extending his contract with the German club.

Heavily linked with a move to Manchester United or Arsenal, Bild reports that the 24-year-old will extend his contract with the Germans.

At the start of the week, agent - and uncle - Ilhan Gundogan revealed that the player was ready to reject important offers from England to stay in the Bundesliga.

"This [staying at Dortmund] is clearly an option again," the agent said.

"There are several things in favour of Ilkay finding back to his old level and doing that in a familiar, comfortable environment."

Gundogan's current contract expires in June 2016.
