Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal set to seal £40m triple swoop

By

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is aiming to seal the transfers of Liverpool's Raheem Sterling, Barcelona full-back Dani Alves and Benfica midfielder Nicolas Gaitan, the Daily Star reports.

The Barcelona man is out of contract at the end of the season and would join the Red Devils on a free transfer.

Last month, the 32-year-old announced that he will speak in a press conference after the Champions League final to reveal his future destination.

For 27-year-old Nicolas Gaitan, the Dutchman is ready to offer midfielder Nani as part of the deal.

The player is available on the market for £22m and has a contract with Benfica until June 2018.

Meanwhile, United have joined the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid in the race to sign Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling.

The Reds insist that the Englishman is not for sale but it is unlikely that he will be at Anfield next season after Brandon Rodgers' side failed to qualify for next season's Champions League.

He is expected to leave for £25m.
