Louis van Gaal on injuries and Robin van Persie's future

By

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says only midfielder Daley Blind is set to recover in time to face Everton this weekend.

Michael Carrick, Phil Jones, Rojo, Adnan Januzaj and Rafael are all expected to miss Sunday's tricky game at Goodison Park as the Red Devils continue their chase for a top four finish.

"Maybe only one, but there is still a question mark," van Gaal told MUTV.

"For you, I shall say it is Daley Blind, but there is a question mark. Rafael, it is unbelievable. He has broken his ribs so he shall not play anymore this season for Manchester United very unfortunately.

"Januzaj is not such a heavy injury."

Meanwhile, the Dutchman says striker Robin van Persie has to earn his place in his starting line-up as he continues his recovery from injury.

"He has to train very hard and play in the second team and show his qualities again," van Gaal said.

"Then I have to compare him with the positions he can play with the players in that position. It's always the same."
