Louis van Gaal: Top-four battle will go to the final weekend

By

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal expects the battle for a place in next season's Champions League to go to the wire.

The Red Devils - together with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool - all won their respective games last weekend and with fifteen games left this season, the Dutchman insists that nothing will be decided before the end of May.

"I have already said in press conferences [that the race for a Champions League spot could go to the final weekend]," van Gaal told MUTV.

"[And that is] because that is a big battle.

"We are [five] points off Manchester City, for example, so I believe it shall be a big battle in the end."

United face a tricky away game against West Ham United on Sunday but will first have to qualify for the next round of the FA Cup when they host Cambridge United on Tuesday at Old Trafford.
