Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal says the Red Devils will not win the title if they drop points the way they did on Saturday against Aston Villa.
The Red Devils failed to take advantage of Gabriel Agbonlahor's straight red in the second half as they could only manage a draw at Villa Park and are now seven points from leaders Chelsea and Manchester City.
"When you want to be a part of the title race you have to win these type of games," van Gaal told Sky Sports.
"It was not good enough to catch the victory here.
"No [we are not title challengers] because you have seen that you have to win these matches and we didn't win. But it is still a long time to go and Chelsea have to go to Stoke City.
"I have seen for example Manchester City only the first-half of Crystal Palace and they could have been behind and struggled until half-time and in the end it is 3-0. That is the difference.
"We dropped two points. We were the better team I think and that is frustrating when you are the better team in these kind of games
"We were not as aggressive in the first-half. As usual we kept the ball better but we did not create too much because we were not looking for the forwards. That is why I changed it.
"We did it in the second half better, we were more aggressive, we pressed more in front and that's why we scored, but you have to score two times and we could not do it. It was very frustrating because it could've been seven [wins] in a row."
