Nicolas Otamendi: Why I turned down Manchester United to join Manchester City

By

New Manchester City signing Nicolas Otamendi says it is a dream to join a club that "looks so wonderful from the outside".

The 27-year-old was a major transfer target for Manchester United throughout the whole summer but opted to join the Citizens on a five-year deal worth £32m.

The defender, who was named in La Liga's 2014-15 team after a very solid season at Valencia, will not start this weekend's game against Everton, according to boss Manuel Pellegrini.

"I am here to give my best, to fight game by game and push City to the highest peaks for as long as possible," the player told City's official website.

"I wish we will be able to win several cups and titles.

"That’s the most important. To be here inside a club that looks so wonderful from the outside is a dream."
